Club News – Jan 2017-1

Hello Fly Club Members. We had a really good meeting on Thursday with our speaker Owen Schoenberger of fresh water fisheries and bull river hatchery. Lots of good information on the works of the hatchery and trout releases as well as information on the collection of sturgeon eggs and rearing of these for the past few years. A good turn out with 22 members showing up.

Other news is the changing of our fly tying date at Balfor Beach Inn. It has been changed to this Saturday, Jan. 14th. All interested in tying, you just show up with your tying tools and materials that you want to tie up for the upcoming season. We start any time after noon. There is food available, the football games on tele., great scenery ie: ferry going by every so often, good local spirits, (called the faceplant open for good reason) and good company. Just a day of tying and good conversation.

There was a call for more support at the symposium coming up this March 25, 26. Help needed for setup, front table, fly tyers needed, those that tie- flies are needed for our fish full of flies draw, tiers for the kids fly tying tables and just a call for your support to make this another great fly fishing show. Being involved is always rewarding and a great place to learn more of the sport. Anyone can call me if interested in helping out in any way.

The club will be making up t-shirts for the symposium again this year. If interested in one, you need to order one giving your size and cost is 20.00 each. Club will supply any extra costs ie. cresting, taxes. Only stipulation is you must be a paid up member of the club to get these specials. We will also be making up t-shirts for the kids jr. club tying table. These we give to the kids that tie at the show.

Ok thats all for now. Till next time, tight lines and bent rods. RZ.
