Hello
The moult of two species of Stonefly has been observed. The Giant Stonefly (Salmonfly) was observed at the time of moult. By the time a camera was activated, it had completed the moult and was beside it’s shuck.
The shuck of the second species was not seen, but is believed to have been a very black color.
In both cases, the freshly moulted nymph was very light colored and the color darkened over a period of time.
After moulting, they crawled under a rock and remained nearly motionless for a couple days.
Photos of these freshly moulted nymph moults are included in the attached slideshow.
